The driver of a car that allegedly fled the scene of a fatal collision with a motorcycle last week has been identified by investigators.

The North Lebanon Township Police Department has released details regarding the fatal hit-and-run crash, which occurred on Friday evening, Aug. 25.

Around 6:38 p.m. Friday, the report said, a gray Toyota Camry was traveling west on East Lehman Street. The Toyota made a left turn heading south onto North 11th Avenue and into the path of a motorcycle traveling east on East Lehman Street. The vehicles collided.

The motorcyclist, identified by police as Edward Matias-Rodriguez, 33, of Jonestown, succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Toyota fled the scene in his vehicle. However, he was identified through follow-up investigations as Brian Sheaffer, the report from North Lebanon police said. The suspect’s vehicle has also been recovered.

As of earlier this week, the investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Lebanon County Accident Reconstruction Team.
