A Lebanon County native and his wife have been named co-chairs of this year’s Lebanon Heart Ball by the American Heart Association.

Brad Bowman has worked for G.F. Bowman Inc. since he was 12, doing everything from sweeping and cleaning the shop to installation of plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems. He later moved into sales and has held the positions of sales representative and sales manager.

He was a past chair of Lebanon Heart Walk and a past member of the American Heart Association’s Lebanon County Board of Directors. He also was a member of the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lebanon Valley class in 2010 and now serves on its council.

His wife and co-chair for the ball, Andrea Bowman, is a stay-at-home mom to their three children, Hannah, Kendall and Behr. She has a very personal reason for her involvement with the organization.

“When it comes to my ‘why’ and my reason for wanting to be involved with the Heart Ball, Brad is my why,” says Andrea Bowman. “The day he had a heart attack changed our lives forever, and it was one of the scariest things I’ve ever been through. Even to this day, I am still affected by it. I also lost an uncle to a heart attack, had another uncle who survived a heart attack, and my grandfather survived a stroke, so heart disease runs in my family, as well.”

The 2024 Lebanon Heart Ball, presented by WellSpan Health, is set for Saturday, March 9 at 5 p.m. at the Lebanon Country Club.

Additional support is provided by ColdTree Foundation, G.F. Bowman, UPMC, and UPMC Health Plan. The annual event is a night to acknowledge the association’s year-round efforts to drive health equity in Lebanon County.

In honor of the Heart Association’s centennial celebration, the event will also celebrate its 100-year history of pioneering scientific discovery, advocating for healthy communities and significantly reducing heart disease and stroke death rates. Throughout the evening, the association will honor volunteers and patrons, feature stories of survivors, and entertain guests with dinner, dancing and an exciting auction.
